The Power of PerseveranceEach and every one of us have been through it. Something in our lives has jolted us to the core. Whether it was the death of a loved one, a financial disaster, a divorce, a disappointment, loss of a job, abuse, a major health issue...we each have a story to tell. It's not the situation that effects us, it's how we persevere past it. This presentation will focus on the lives of 3 amazing women who have persevered in situations where many would have shut down.(for info about the speakers, scroll down with the dot on the right)About Our Speakers...Rachelle Friedman (click here to see video of Rachelle)A native of Virginia Beach, an ECU grad and Raleigh area resident, Rachelle was planning on marrying her college sweetheart when at her bachelorette party in May 2010, a great night out ended tragically after she was playfully pushed in the pool by her best friend. Rachelle hit her head on the bottom and suffered a C6 spinal cord injury leaving her a quadriplegic. After months of physical therapy and hard work, Rachelle went home to a world that was very different from her once active lifestyle and began to look for ways to become active - finding a wheelchair rugby team to join. Rach showed up for the first time, still wearing a neckbrace but very excitied. Her journey to her mental healing had truly begun and now it was time for her to show the world that she was not going to be stopped.Ruby Gettinger (click here to see videos of Ruby)At her highest weight of over 700 pounds, with diabetes and an addiction to food, Ruby Gettinger determined that she would begin her own journey to health through exercise and healthy eating. Ruby began videotaping her journey simply as a personal record of her progress and as self motivation. She never dreamed this would lead to a reality TV show watched by millions worldwide. The Style Network's Ruby has motivated countless fans to begin their own journeys, overcoming obesity and other issues. To date, Ruby has lost over 400 pounds. Certainly not easy but so worth it - for the sake of her own health and for the positive impact on the lives of others.Sandra Dubose Gibson (click to see video of Sandra)Sandra Dubose is a dynamic orator with an extensive background in the performing arts. An experienced singer/songwriter, actress and independent filmmaker, Sandra now turns her attention to inspiring women of all ages to promote healthy self esteem and personal growth as a motivational speaker. As an advocate for Alopecia Awareness, Sandra openly shares her experience of going bald as a result of this autoimmune disease which affects over 5 million people in the United States alone. She is a living example that beauty truly does come from the inside and shines on the outside.

Become An Exhibitor SWH Exhibitor Opportunities for 2011For our events in 2011, we have very limited opportunities for exhibitors. Only 40 exhibits will be able to be included in each event. Your space will be considered registered when the space has been paid for. Your exhibit space will consist of 1 - 6' table covered in a black linen tablecloth and 1 chair. In addition to the cost for your booth, we ask that you supply some type of gift for each woman in attendance. These gifts will not be pre-stuffed into their goody bags so that you can give the item to each woman directly.The cost for the Exhibitor space is as follows:October Event: $250January Event: $250October & January Events: $450Please Note: Speaking of Women's Health is an event focused on a woman's health, well-being and personal safety and she attends the event to grow on a number of levels in her own life and also as the decision maker for her family. We ask that the booths have something to do with these ideas guiding principles. Some exhibit booths such as Home Party Sales are not able to be at the event. Sign me Up! Do you love to volunteer and help out? If so, there's plenty to do as a SWH volunteer! (All of our volunteers get to wear boas so you'll be able to stand out in style!)Nearly 50 volunteers will be needed to insure that the event runs smoothly. Whether you're coming alone or with a group, we sincerely appreciate any help that you give! Take a look at these volunteer opportunities..Breakdown of VolunteersDecor Set Up CrewThe Decor Team is very important! For us, this event is all about the glitz! As a member of this team you'll be helping to decorate hallways, place the signage, assemble and place the centerpieces and even decorate the bathrooms. There are 12 volunteers needed for this role and the time requirement is from 10pm - 4pmExhibitor OversightThere are 40 exhibitors at this event and they will need help with finding their table. This role will place the signage for them and guide them to their table space. There are 2 volunteers needed for this role and the time requirement is from 1100am-330pm. Greeters - UshersGreeting our attendees and making them feel welcome is very important. Our greeters work to insure everyone is where they need to be and those on line have a ticket. When Registration shuts down at 715pm, you will transition to the doors to the ballroom where you will help get everyone into the room. There are 5 volunteers needed for this role and the time requirement is from 330pm - 730pm. Registration Volunteers - Table CaptainsAt registration, you'll be seated and get the attendee started. She will show you her ticket, pick up a lanyard and get a goody bag. When Registraion shuts down at 715pm, you will transition into the ballroom where you will oversee 5 preassigned tables. You'll help in this area to insure that everyone has a seat and help to flag people looking for a seat. There are 10 volunteers needed for this role and the time requirement is from 330pm - 730pm. Goody Bag VolunteersGoody Bag volunteers will be standing and handing bags to the attendee. When Registration shuts down at 715, you will help to get everything packed up and ready to get back into the truck. There are 4 volunteers needed for this role and the time requirement is from 330pm - 745pm. Breakout Session MonitorsOur Breakout Monitors oversee each breakout session to insure that everything runs smoothly. You'll be responsible for reading the speaker introductions, collecting session data and insuring that the room doors are open and shut appropriately. There are 4 volunteers needed for this role and the time requirement is from 415pm - 715pm. Breakdown CrewWhen the event is over, we'll need help with getting everything back into a truck. Lifting of some heavy objects is required and this is a great role for men who'd like to get involved in the event!
